Tips to Enjoy Beer with Friends
Share
When you're hanging out with friends, there are a few things that just must happen.
You must eat something. You must play some games. You must drink something delicious, and you must do it together.
Beer is the perfect drink for that kind of gathering because it's fun and easy! If you want to know how to make sure your next beer night is an epic one, check out these tips:
Tip #1: Buy a variety of beers in different styles

Dark ales, pilsners, porters, wheat beers, ciders, rare beers, or even craft beers—try them all.
Beer is a great way to bring people together. It's a beverage that can be enjoyed by people who prefer to drink light or dark; it can be savoured by those who like their brews light and sweet, or by those who prefer them bitter and hoppy.
Tip #2: Pair your beer with great food
Beer and food go together like peanut butter and jelly. The two can be enjoyed together, but they taste even better when paired correctly. If you want to get the most out of your beer-drinking experience, try pairing it with a meal or snack that complements its flavour profile.
This is especially important for dark beers, which often have rich flavours that need an equally bold companion. A strong, flavourful steak is a great pairing for a stout or porter, while lighter foods like fish or chicken work well with IPAs and other hoppy beers.
Tip #3: Don’t serve beer too cold

There’s no denying that beer tastes better when it’s cold, but there’s a limit to how cold it should be served. When you chill a beverage too much, its flavour is muted, and the carbonation is lost. This means the drink will taste waterier than anything else. For this reason, it’s best to serve beer at room temperature or slightly chilled. You can do this by placing the bottle in a bucket of ice water for about five minutes before serving it, which will bring its temperature down just enough to create the perfect balance between carbonation and flavour.
Tip #4: Use the right glassware
Every type of beer has its own glass designed specifically for serving that style. The shape of a glass affects how the beer tastes, so it’s important to use the right glass for each style. For example, when you pour an ale into a pint glass, its carbonation will dissipate more quickly than if you served it in a snifter. This means that the beer will be flat and flavourless if you don’t use the appropriate glassware.
Tip #5: Give it time to settle
As you pour a beer into your glass, it will foam up. This is completely normal and should be expected. The bubbles will eventually dissipate over the course of several minutes, and what remains is a perfectly carbonated beverage that’s ready to drink!
